Thank you so much to everybody who participated by creating something, sharing the fest announcements, or enjoying the works!  See you all next year. :)

Happy Summer, all!  For anyone not working on Big Bang (or looking for a way to procrastinate on Big Bang?), I remind you that C6D Ladies' Day go-live date is July 19 -- a week from Saturday. Bring out yer female-centric dS/C6D fic!  Details at seascribe's original post.

It's that time again!  Time to celebrate all of our favourite C6D canon ladies with stories/fic/art/podfics/meta/yarnworks!

(banner by the incomparable Missionlameturtle!)

Things this year will run basically like they did last year. Works will be added to a new 2015 Ladies Day AO3 collection and go-live will be on July 19.

About Ladies Day:

This is an informal, low-pressure fest dedicated to works centred on all the wonderful canon ladies in our various C6D fandoms, from Francesca Vecchio to Jane Taylor to Zoë Johansson to Martha Burns. You can find a general list of eligible fandoms HERE (if you don’t see your fandom on the list and aren’t sure if it’s eligible, comment here or email me. I want this to be as inclusive as possible, so chances are it’ll count).

Fest entries can be in any medium—if you make it, it’s eligible. Entries can be any rating, from General Audiences to Explicit, and can be gen, het, or femme-slash. M/F/M OT3s (eg. Fraser/RayK/Elaine) are allowed, but remember that the focus of this fest is on canon female characters.

To that end, genderbending or genderqueering is not allowed, UNLESS the focus remains on a canon female-identified character. So always-a-girl!RayK/Fraser would not be eligible.  Fic exploring gender changes is allowed, as long as the focus of the wok remains on a canon female character (for example, a Fraser/Victoria story in which Fraser is a woman is fine, as long as the focus of the work remains on Victoria. Works about Victoria as a trans woman would also be fine.  These are just examples, basically anything that isn't a work centring on one of the canon male characters is welcome!).

HERE is the link to the C6D Ladies Day 2015 collection on the AO3. To post your work, all you have to do is click the Post to Collection button and then fill out the form. If you need an AO3 invite or any help with the posting format, let me know!

Works will remain unrevealed until the go live on July 19. When that happens, I’ll post an announcement here with a link to the collection.

All right! Everybody go forth and make lots of awesome lady-centric fanworks! If you have any questions, feel free to comment here or email me at seascribe at gmail.

[personal profile] mizface and [personal profile] hazelwho are running the dsc6d big bang again this year, and we’d love you have you join us!

This year’s challenge will go pretty much exactly like last 2012 and 2013. If you have any questions about it, please check out The Rules Post and The FAQs Page.

We strive to make this challenge as open and welcoming as we can, supporting well-established fandom veterans and brand new participants alike. We consider writing, vidding, podficcing, and arting of pretty much any type to be all be equally awesome creative expressions, and each of these things can be a primary work for this challenge. Complement pieces, done as smaller companion pieces to the primary works can be all of those things (and more!) - we’re open to just about anything. The community is wonderfully supportive, and there is no penalty/public shaming for dropping out. So come on, take a chance and come play with us!

If you'd like to sign up (and come on, you know you want to), just go HERE!

The first annual C6D Ladies Day fest is set to go live in TWO WEEKS, on March 22.  I've heard from a lot of folks about the exciting things they're working on, and I thought it would be helpful to have a post for sharing about our projects.   What are you working on?  How's it going?  Have you already finished something?  Do you need a beta or some brainstorming help to finish up?  Is there something you think would be awesome in the fest, but aren't sure you're ready to make yourself?

This is the post to talk about all of that!

For talking about your own projects, each person can start a comment thread of their own.  Let us know what fandom you're creating for, who the characters are, what medium you're working in, and any other details you'd like to share!  If you're having issues with anything you're creating, this is the place to talk about them and get some community support to help out.  It can also just be a place to squee.

I've made two specific comment threads: one for betas/cheerleading, where you can post if you're looking for a beta/cheerleader or if you're offering to beta/cheerlead, and one for prompts, where you can share any ideas about works you'd like to see.

Additionally, when you've finished your fic/art/podfic/meta/fanmix/yarncraft/etc. don't forget to post it to the C6D Ladies Day AO3 collection.  Just hit the "post to collection"  button in the upper right hand corner, and complete the posting process as you normally would.  If you have any issues or need an AO3 invite, let me know!  The collection will remain unrevealed until go-live on March 22.  Here is a link to the original fest announcement post, which contains all the information and guidelines.

All right, I think that's everything!  Come share all the cool stuff you're working on!

If you have any questions or issues, send me a PM or email seascribe at gmail dot com.

Looking for inspiration?  Taking a break from your AU or Big Bang project?  Check out the DS/C6D Prompt Meme!  We've got 44 prompts posted, so far, in: Due South, Slings & Arrows, Twitch City, Bomb Girls, ReGenesis, Durham County, Flashpoint, RPF, Californication, Eastwick, and Shattered (including a number of crossovers).  Many of them gen, some sex-related.  Largely fic so far, but some for vids and art, too.  Something for everybody!

We have ONE glorious prompt fill so far.  Will yours be number two?  Fill a prompt, spread the love. :)

Also, signups are still open for the C6D Midsummer Santa gift exchange.  I am not the mod of this challenge, merely an eager participant hoping that all you cool people will come and play so that I get fun stuff to read/look at/listen to come August!  Signups close June 1.

Sooooo... [personal profile] mizface and [personal profile] hazelwho had so much fun running the [livejournal.com profile] ds_c6d_bigbang last year that we decided to run it again! What better day to start sign ups for the dS-C6D Big Bang than The Eleventh of March! Because (and oh yes, I am heavily paraphrasing here):

And whom-so-ever of you gets through this day, unless you are shot in the head or somehow afk...you will come to the site, and you will sign up...when e'er you hear the name again, and you will get excited!...At the name March The Eleventh!

We happy few, we few, we band of creators...our names will be as like...household names, if only in fannish households. And those who are not here, be they sleeping or… doing something else...They will feel themselves...sort of crappy. Because they are not here to...to join the fun.

On this day, the Eleventh of March!

In conclusion, watch for the sign up post (which will actually run from the Eleventh of March! until the Thirty-first of March!) You can also check out the Rules and FAQs for more info.

It's time for the fifth almost annual C6DVD cardathon! This event is a special kind of ficathon where participants send each other in-character Valentine's Day cards. In other words, instead of sending a third-person story about a character, you're actually sending a card from one character to another. Valentine's Day is for lovers, so requests can be either het-oriented or slash-oriented, but not gen.

All fandoms that fall under the Canadian Six Degrees umbrella are eligible. These include any fandom which has a tag on the [community profile] c6d sidebar or which appears in this list. You may request any character in these shows. RPF is allowed. Crossovers are allowed, but at least one of your requests must not be a crossover.

Yes, this involves giving out your mailing address (and possibly your name, if you need that to be on your mail to receive it). Nobody will see it except for me, and (unless you request otherwise; see below under "Privacy considerations") the person who is assigned to write your card. I swear that I am not a weird crazy stalker. References available on request. :-)

lots of details below )
