It seems to be the essence of the movie, and yes, very universal. The men from the Watch, Sandra, even Buddy and Carol, they're all exiled and have to make their way back to love.

Re-watching this morning I was thinking how Taylor's strand really is the flipside to the cruising at the Watch.
